This little paradise comes with all the amenities and access you would expect in a modern city right in the wild. After settling into your room, take a walk around the town of Arusha and experience life in real African style or relax on the poolside.
Explore the incredibly diverse landscape of Tarangire National Park. Famous for its magnificent Baobabs and high numbers of elephants and with the largest populations of animals migrating here between June and October, the dry season provides an awe-inspiring spectacle of wildlife. Spend your days exploring the park’s rich habitats from the life-giving Tarangire River, acacia woodlands, and open grassland to the evergreen swamps which host hundreds of elephants and migratory wildebeest and zebra during the dry season followed by predators. Our accommodation, the Tarangire safari Lodge, is nestled deep within the heart of Tarangire National Park. The Lodge is strategically located on an elevation, overlooking the Tarangire River, elephants can be seen right from the swimming pool, and the sight of the river from the lodge is absolutely incredible, dinner, and overnight at Tarangire safari lodge.
This day will be spent entirely on game viewing through the park exploring the park’s vast habitats and landscape up to the Silalei swamp which during the dry season offers green pasture and water for the grazers and the predators follow them here. During the months of June to November when we have the seasonal migration of wildebeest and zebras the park bust into life with possibly the biggest concentration of wildlife outside Serengeti national park and the largest population of elephants per square kilometers in the world. Other sightings will include lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, and buffaloes and if you are lucky the rare wild dogs are found here. In the late afternoon stop for your bush sundowner drinks which will be made by your guide.
Leave the lodge after a relaxed breakfast, and proceed with a walking tour in the farming town of Mto wa Mbu. This village is unique in Tanzania since it is home to over 120 different tribes from across Tanzania, and forms a colorful mix of languages and customs. Your walking guide will take you to rice and banana plantations, a local beer factory, a school, and a carving factory. Discover the traditional way of life of the villagers, you will have your local cousin leave the African Rift Valley behind and make your way to the vegetation-rich crater highlands. Soon, the higher lands are reached and a wonderful view of the Maasai Plains and Lake Manyara opens up before your, photo stops will be taken and you will be able to enjoy the spectacular views. You continue to your lodge Plantation Farm lodge and spend the rest of the day relaxing by the swimming pool.
Three days exploring the central and eastern Serengeti mammoth kopjes.
Leaving the lodge behind you go through the Ngorongoro conservation and your first stop will be the world-famous archaeological site of Olduvai Gorge, also known as the Cradle of Mankind. The earliest remains of Homo sapiens were discovered here by Mary Leaky and anyone with an interest in mankind’s ancestors will be fascinated by this extraordinary place. Explore the quaint little museum and marvel at the rugged landscape. This pale anthropological site in the western Ngorongoro crater is a steep-sided ravine composed of two branches that have a combined length of about 50 km and are 90 meters deep. Deposits exposed in the sides of the gorge cover have yielded a treasure trove of fossil remains. After proceeding to the Serengeti where days will be spent exploring the central and eastern sections of the Serengeti on safari tracking the great array of wildlife that this vast area offers. If you’re here at the right time for the great migration during the months of May-July, this is the region where the herds are at their most concentrated, even without the migration the area offers excellent game viewing throughout the year with the central thought to be the best place for big cats in Africa. It’s also an area of untamed natural beauty, of giant mammoth kopjes, rivers, swamps, and open plains.
Spend the morning and afternoon game drive in the stunning Serengeti National Park, where over a million wildebeest and zebras crowd together, hooves kick dust and lions hunt at dawn. This wildlife hotspot is absolutely one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in Africa. Enjoy the infinite plains, overwhelming wildlife, breathtaking sunsets, and the sound of elephants trumpeting in the distance. Lunch, dinner, and overnight will be at Serengeti Serena Lodge.
Leaving Serengeti national park behind after a half-day of game viewing, you gain altitude as you are driven west and into the Ngorongoro Highlands. A packed lunch sustains you on the way, and before long you check into “Ngorongoro Serena lodge “our accommodation for the night and dinner.
Leave your lodge very early in the morning, and descend, 610 meters down to the grasslands of the crater floor, an area of about 265 square kilometers. Despite its small size, the Crater is a Big 5 country and the openness of the terrain means easy and rewarding game viewing. You will spend the day exploring the crater floor, stopping to picnic on the grasslands amidst the grazing herds. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, the world’s largest intact and un-flooded caldera provides a year-round home to an astonishing 25,000 large mammals including black rhino, wildebeest, and zebra along with Africa’s densest concentrations of hyena. The Crater’s forests shelter elephants and buffalo, its wetlands are home to hippos and flamingos while lions, jackals, leopards, and caracals make up the full range of predators.
