Schedule Details

Day 1: Lemosho Glades

The adventure begins on the first day of your Kilimanjaro trek. Departing from your comfortable lodge, your journey takes you to the Londorosi gate located on the Western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. This gate is a few hours' drive from the bustling town of Arusha. From the Londorosi gate, the real adventure begins as you make your way to the Lemosho trailhead. However, it's important to note that during rainy or muddy conditions, the vehicles may not be able to reach the true trailhead. In such cases, you may need to embark on some extra hiking. But fear not, as Serengeti Pride vehicles are known for their exceptional drivers and vehicles, ensuring that you'll likely go farther than any other company. After an invigorating journey, a picnic lunch is in store for you. With newfound energy, you'll set off on a 4-hour hike through the lush forest to reach your first overnight destination, the Forest Camp. As you hike through the forest, your senses will be delighted by the exotic moss and vibrant flowers, while the melodious calls of birds provide a soothing soundtrack. Keep your eyes peeled for Black and White Colobus monkeys and signs of elephants that frequent this area. Hiking: 4-5 hours Overnight Altitude: Approximately 9,498 feet

Day 2: Shira Plateau

On the second day of your Kilimanjaro adventure, you'll leave the Montane Forest behind as you enter the Hagenia zone. As the landscape changes, so do your views. You'll catch your first glimpses of the majestic Kibo Peak, a sight that will continue to inspire you throughout your journey. This day's hike offers a valuable opportunity for acclimatization, with several ridges to ascend and descend along the way. The highest point of your day will be at 11,500 feet before descending to your camp for the night, Shira 1 Camp. Hiking: 6-9 hours Overnight Altitude:11,500 feet

Day 3: Moir Camp

Today's trek will take you through the Heath zone of the Shira Plateau as you begin your ascent up the western slope of the Kibo Massif. Along the route, a picnic lunch awaits you at Scott Fisher's memorial camp, a tribute to the renowned Mt. Everest guide. Continuing your journey, you'll reach the upper heath zone and Moir camp. Depending on the weather, there may be opportunities for acclimatization hikes in the late afternoon, preparing you for the challenges ahead. Hiking: 5-6 hours Overnight Altitude: Approximately 13,580 feet

Day 4: Pofu/Buffalo Camp

Today's hike will vary in duration, taking between 4-7 hours, depending on stops along the way. Day 6: School Huts Camp

Today, you'll reach the highest elevation camp on your journey. It's essential to get some rest before embarking on your night-time summit ascent, which typically begins around midnight. Your goal is to reach Gilman's Point at sunrise, and you'll do so through a route that includes Stella Point and the final push to the summit, Uhuru Peak. Hiking: 4-5 hours Overnight Altitude: Approximately 15,600 feet

Day 7: Summit and Mweka Camp (or Millenium Camp by request)

Today is summit day, the pinnacle of your Kilimanjaro adventure. Your ascent to the summit, Uhuru Peak, which stands at 19,340 feet (5,896 meters), commences around 11:00 PM or midnight the night before. The goal is to reach the peak right at sunrise. The climb involves traversing Gilman's Point, the Crater Rim, and ultimately reaching the summit. Using headlamps (be sure to bring extra lithium batteries for the cold and dark conditions), you'll ascend for 6-7 hours to Gilman's Point, continue to Stella Point, and finally reach Uhuru Peak. A summit celebration and photos at this incredible vantage point are a must. Afterward, you'll descend to Barafu camp for lunch and then continue to Mweka camp for an overnight stay. It's possible to request Millenium camp instead, which is situated at approximately 12,000 feet, meaning less descent today and more tomorrow. Hiking: Highly variable in duration, both on the ascent and descent; typically 13-17 hours Summit Altitude: 19,341 feet Overnight Altitude: 10,065 feet

Day 8: Mweka Park Gate
